Chicago Winter Warning

Always ask about heat! Gas bills in old, poorly insulated buildings can be $200-400/month in winter. Ask to see actual utility bills from previous tenants if possible.

RLTO Required Information

Under Chicago's RLTO, landlords must provide certain disclosures:

Required Disclosures

  • RLTO summary document
  • Code violations from past 12 months (if any)
  • Name and address of owner or authorized agent
  • Bank where security deposit is held (if collected)

If the landlord doesn't provide these, ask for them directly.
